Collection HOMUNCULI
Homunculus (lat.) is a small human-like creature. We owe this image to medieval European alchemy and folklore. It was considered possible to conceive a tiny living man or a woman from blood and sperm.
My homunculi are born from wax, silver and ... porcelain, as the human shape is recreated from a mold of an authentic antique German Frozen Charlotte-type doll from my personal collection. This one has been found during excavations in Thuringia, where I found it in an antiques' store.
Every Homunculus is based on its wax replica, altered and personalized to become a unique character. This is my way to make the inanimate anthropomorph matter develop, speak and live in the human world.
